Michael Sexton is the Founder and CEO of Exotic Plant Labs, LLC, an applied plant science and agricultural technology company focused on advanced plant nutrition, specialty crop diagnostics, and controlled-environment cultivation systems 

Harvard educated in business management, a U.S. Marine combat veteran, and grounded in more than a decade of hands-on cultivation experience, Michael brings a rare combination of discipline, research, plant science, and real-world growing knowledge to the horticulture space.

His work spans high-value crop production, controlled cultivation systems, fertilizer formulation, rare plant care, plant genetics, and R&D. From rare aroids, orchids, succulents, cacti, and variegated plants to carnivorous species and other prized botanicals, Michael has built his expertise by working directly with the plants, systems, and challenges that serious growers face.

Michael has worked and collaborated with respected institutions including Johns Hopkins, MIT, Michigan State University, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He is also a contributing member of the American Higher Education Council, where his focus includes plant pathology, genetic development, and engineered cultivation systems.

His work has earned national and international recognition, including recognition at the 2024 AgriNext Awards in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and a nomination for the 2024 International Society of Cannabis Awards as a Young Cannabis Leader.
